About Deputy Mayor Taylor​​​​

Councillor Geoff Taylor was re-elected to Hamilton City Council in the 2025 local elections, continuing a tenure that began in 2016. 


Councillor
 Taylor brings a wealth of governance experience to Council, having previously served as Deputy Mayor  a role he has reprised in the current term. He has chaired the Central City and River Plan Advisory Group and served as Deputy Chair of the Strategic Growth and District Plan Committees. For the 2025–2028 triennium, he will take on the role of Deputy Chair of Council.
 


Before entering 
local government, Councillor Taylor worked as a journalist and author. One of his proudest achievements in Council has been leading the initiative to introduce two hours of free parking in the central city.
