About Touch n Go Kiosks

We’ve installed Touch n Go kiosks throughout the central city to make parking easier.

They’re a secure and convenient way to register and pay for parking, no need to wait around. Just unlock your phone, touch the kiosk, and register as you walk to your destination.

Please note:

  • Touch N Go Kiosks can only be used to pay for hourly parking in the green and yellow zones.
  • They’re an additional payment option. You can still use traditional kiosks or the PayMyPark App.
  • There’s no customer surcharge fees to use them.

Why we’ve introduced Touch n Go Kiosks

Touch N Go Kiosks help make parking in the city centre easier, their benefits:

  • Fast and simple: just touch, then register as you walk.
  • Cost-effect: they’re significantly cheaper than traditional kiosks allowing us to install more. Our goal is to have a kiosk within 40m of every on-street hourly paid parking space.
  • App free: ideal for people who prefer using their phone, but don’t want to install the PayMyPark app.

Frequently asked questions

What is NFC and how does it work on the kiosk?

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range wireless technology that lets your unlocked phone connect to the kiosk by holding it close

The kiosk has an embedded NFC tag with a secure link. When your phone connects to the tag, a button appears, tap it to open the secure payment page.

Important:

  • Your phone must be unlocked.
  • Touch phone against circle for 3 seconds.
  • Once the registration page opens, you can walk away and complete your payment anywhere.

How do I enable NFC on my phone?

NFC is enabled by default on most phones released since 2019 and many models since 2015.

Android (e.g. Samsung, Google, OPPO)

  • NFC is enabled by default on most mid-to-high-end phones released since 2015, and is now standard in most entry-level models.
  • To check your phone:
    • Go to Settings
    • Search NFC
    • If it’s off, toggle/switch it on

iPhones

  • NFC is enabled by default on iPhone XR, XS, 11 or newer

  • Models before iPhone 6s do not have NFC capabilities

  • Models 6s, SE, 7, 8, X need manual activation:

    • Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Centre.

    • Tap the NFC Tag Reader icon (looks like a wave or radar).

If it’s not visible: go to Settings → Control Centre → add NFC Tag Reader.

Can I use any Touch n Go Kiosk?

Make sure you use a kiosk located in the same zone you parked in e.g. if you park in the green zone, use a kiosk in the green zone.

Does first hour free parking still apply?

Yes first hour free still applies in the green and yellow on-street hourly paid parking zones.

Follow the prompts on your phone, select the duration you want to park for, and the first hour free will be automatically deducted from the charges.

If you’re parking for an hour or less, you still need to register, but your charge will be $0.
