Private Plan Change 19 - Status

Private Plan Change 19 - Ruakura Electricity National Grid Corridor (PPC 19) proposed an amendment to the National Grid Corridor in the District Plan for the Ruakura area. The purpose of PPC 19 is to align the District Plan with infrastructure that has already been consented and constructed.  

PPC 19 was limited notified on 20 February 2025, open for submissions until 21 March 2025, and no submissions were received. As a result, no hearing was required 

On 13 May 2025 a decision report was issued, an independent hearing commissioner has recommended that PPC 19 be approved without modification under Clause 29(4) of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA).

 

 

What’s Private Plan Change 19?

Transpower New Zealand Limited (Transpower) lodged a private plan change request on 25 July 2024. 

PPC19 proposes to amend the Operative District Plan planning maps to reflect the new alignment of a section of electricity transmission lines at the Ruakura Inland Port and to amend the definition of National Grid Corridor by: 

  • changing the planning maps to reflect the new alignment of a section of the electricity
  • transmission line at Ruakura that has already been granted resource consent and built
  • enabling the narrower mapped corridor to take precedence over the fixed width.
